Overview

WAKE is a live cruise fleet tracker for cruise passengers and enthusiasts — a way to watch a specific ship's position, speed, and heading in real time, browse deck plans, and follow a voyage from booking to return.

The Problem

The cruise-tracking tools that already exist are mostly built for maritime professionals — dense, technical, and unfriendly to someone who just wants to see where their own ship is right now.

The Idea

Take real-time AIS ship-tracking data and wrap it in an interface built for passengers, not dispatchers — save a voyage, watch it live, and share it with the people waiting for you to come home.

Strategy

Pull live position data from AIS Stream, pair it with deck plans and port webcam feeds, and build the whole product around one core action: pick a ship, watch it move.

Execution

Designed and built the full application — a live map with ship positions within a 25-mile radius, a deck plan viewer, port camera integration (Windy Webcams and YouTube), and PIN-protected voyage sharing.

Results

WAKE is live and tracking active cruise voyages in real time.
